DESCRIPTION OF WORKS: Blakedown have designed and built this simple yet dramatic scheme on a busy roundabout in Dubai Investments Park. Infill of the existing barren landform by the placement and sculpting of spoil has significantly changed the area and has created three attractive turf mounds planted atop with 6m high palms. A large quantity of variable sized crushed rock was used to form a "Dry Wadi", meandering between the green slopes and a detailed irrigation system was designed and installed into the scheme with the source of water coming from a connection to a 600mm live high pressure water main beneath the site. The remaining area was extensively soiled with planting medium and a simple but effective collection of plant material placed to compliment the "Wadi" providing colourful swathes of Pennisetum and Altemanthera. Overall Blakedown have provided their client with a distinctive scheme to make a statement in this fast developing area of Dubai. |
